Bangladesh Gets a Faster Route to Modern Core Banking

Bangladesh's financial institutions are being asked to do more every year. New products, new channels, tighter regulatory reporting, and customers who compare their bank against a mobile wallet rather than against the branch down the road. Most of that work still has to pass through a core banking system that was designed for a different decade.

We have signed an agreement that gives those institutions another option. TulipTech is now the exclusive partner in Bangladesh for Fimple, an AI-native, API-first, composable financial platform. We will take the platform to banks, non-bank financial institutions and fintechs across the country, and we will deliver and support it locally.

What composable means here

The usual core banking conversation in Bangladesh starts with a number and a calendar. Several crore taka, and two to three years before anything reaches a customer. That is a difficult decision for any board, and it is why so many institutions delay it.

Fimple works differently. Products are assembled from components rather than coded from scratch, so deposits, lending, payments, trade finance and Islamic banking can be configured and launched in weeks. It runs alongside an existing core through APIs, which means an institution can put a new digital product live without replacing everything underneath it first. When the time comes for a full migration, it happens in stages instead of one weekend.

Data residency is settled too. Bangladesh Bank's ICT Security Guideline requires core banking data to be held in country, and Fimple can be deployed to meet that requirement.

Why TulipTech

We have built regulated financial technology before. SonaliPay, the remittance service for Sonali Bangladesh UK, was designed, built and is supported by our team, moving money between the UK and Bangladesh for thousands of families.

That is the shape of this partnership. TulipTech is a UK company, based in Leicester since 2011, ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials certified, contracting under English law. Our delivery team of 90 engineers sits in Dhaka, working UK hours. For a Bangladeshi bank, that combination is unusual and useful: British governance and contractual accountability, with the implementation team in the same city, the same time zone and the same language as the client.

Fimple brings the platform and the product engineering. We bring the implementation, the integration work, the local support and the relationships. One accountable partner rather than a vendor at the end of an email chain.

Who this is for

The institutions we expect to move first are the ones with the most to gain and the least to unwind:

  • Digital bank licensees building from nothing, where there is no legacy core to migrate and speed to market decides who wins
  • Islamic banks and Islamic windows, where Fimple's Sharia compliant products are native rather than bolted on
  • Mid-sized banks and NBFIs that want to launch a digital lending or deposit product quickly without touching the main core
  • Fintechs and NBFIs that need a licensed grade ledger and payments engine behind a consumer product

What happens next

We are planning a Bangladesh session with the Fimple team for banking and NBFI decision makers who want to see the platform properly rather than read about it. Details will follow.

If you lead technology, digital or transformation at a bank, NBFI or fintech in Bangladesh, we would be glad to talk. Book a conversation with our team, or email us and we will arrange a session that fits your institution.
